THIS COULD JUST BE THE EXPERIENCE YOU TALK ABOUT UNTIL THE END OF YOUR DAYS!
A trail run expedition along one of the most coveted, but least trammelled, trails in the world: Jomolhari / Lasa Gaya, Bhutan, through the land of Shangri La.
Not only will you get to visit a land untouched, running in the high Himalaya where the only inhabitants are a tribe of itinerant Yak herders, but on this trip you'll be rewarded at either end of the 180km-8/day adventure run with traditional massages, hot stone baths...and cultural explorations.
Also, you will have the pleasure of being hosted by one of the world's top trail athletes, in Anna Frost, two-time winner of the Hardrock 100 and the Transvulcania among many other top tier international trail ultras.
And, yes, you'll get to visit the famous Tigers Nest Monastery (the one that seemingly clings to the side of a vertical mountainside).
Patagonia is one of the most awe-inspiring, raw, visually astounding places we’ve ever seen. And awesome for running!
So close to the Magellan Strait, Cape Horn and Antarctica, wind-sculpted Torres Del Paine is the most impressive part of an incredible landscape.
Trekkers usually complete just the 'W' route in the south, so named because the route heads into the base of the towering spires at two different points. We'll cover those out and backs, but also run up and around the northern section of the Park, making our tour the full (and less often trodden) 'OW' route.
We'' butter you up with some luxe lodgings beforehand, at the award winning Hotel Remota in Puerto Natales, but then also at EcoCamp Patagonia. Situated in the very heart of Torres del Paine National Park it provides the region’s first fully sustainable accommodation, complete with green technology.
Then we sweep anti-clockwise around the 'OW' circuit. We'll give the full earthy experience with some tented accommodation on the first night (no worries - there's still a restaurant and hot showers!), and then it's refugio cabins and lodges all the way around (with attached hot showers!).
There will be a glacier experience, plus of course the trail itself that will route us around and into the base of the world famous Torres!
In association with our trail run tour partner, Wildplans, we will be offering an Expedition Tour to East Timor trails in 1 - 10 July 2016.
Situating ourselves in the highlands of Maubisse, central Timor Leste, we will spend our days exploring the long ridge runs that encircle an old Portuguese homestead where we will camp, including runs to the peaks of some of Timor Leste's highest mountains.
We will be taking firm bookings on first in best dressed with limited spots in first year due to 'expedition' style of trip (true adventure, anything could happen!). We take a 50% deposit (with refund terms and conditions). Full payment is required a min of three months prior to departure.
Nothing will prepare you for the surprises and unexpected desert delights of running the Larapinta Trail.
This sweet singletrack has earned its right to be classified as one the most iconic multi-day trails in Australia.
Rollercoasting its way along the West MacDonnell Ranges in the Northern Territory, west of Alice Springs, Larapinta takes not just your legs, but your heart on a powerful journey through Australia's red centre.
You will run through oases, along escarpments, via canyons and valleys and through an ancient landscape that holds the power to defy your expectations, and entrance your singletrack soul.
This 6-day trail run captures the mid-to-western highlights in a 120km stretch. But as you finish atop Mt Sonder, Northern Territory's highest peak, and peer out over the vast desert landscape, we reckon you'll not have had enough and will beg to run the remainder of the Larapinta.

Hut to Hut, Alpine NP, Australia
The Alpine National Park, Victoria, is some of the most remote, rugged and spectacular mountain country found in Australia.
This unique tour sets off from the peak of Mount Buller (1805m). From the highpoint, survey the Mansfield Valley below, the alpine resort to one shoulder and to the west, The Bluff, Mt Howitt and the Crosscut Saw, a string of precipitous ridges, sometimes only shoulder wide, and along which you will run.
This run is not for the feint hearted. It's wild, the only civilisation encountered will be remnants of yesteryear, being the mountain huts from which the tour takes its name, sites once used by the legendary High Country horsemen. Indeed, the final day's lunch will be at Craig's Hut, depicted in the famous film, The Man From Snowy River. This is quintessential Australian bush running at its finest and most raw - but as all things Tour de Trails, each night's camp will be tinged with high quality cuisine and comfort.
NOTE: at present this is a 'bespoke' tour, meaning we do not have a set date departure rather we can design a tour around your preferred dates. If you are interested in the tour, we do need minimum numbers, so suggest you gather friends or running crew colleagues together (6 is minumum green light). The tour can be run from October-end April/early May. Preferred timing is Dec-Jan-Feb-Mar-April noting that it is much cooler in the highlands in summer than on the coast!

Surf Coast , Victoria, Australia
This one is a sensational option for those new to trail running, with less time to spare, or just looking for an easier, closer-to-a-strong-latte-at-all-times kind of experience.
Following the 44km Surf Coast Walk, this two day run weaves along the coastline famous for being home to Bells beach and the Great Ocean Road. Stretching from the surf town of Torquay, you will run south west, towards your finish at Fairhaven. In between, enjoy stunning headland vistas, short but wild beach runs, hinterland heath, Ironbark forests, important Indigenous landscapes and riverland estuaries.
While never far as the crow flies from the beautiful coastal hamlets of Anglesea and Aireys Inlet, you will still feel very much in a wild environment for the most part. You will also get to step along iconic Bells Beach and we can introduce you to some of the finer culinary and drinking delights of the Surf Coast, maybe a massage or two and if you like divert off to some cultural experiences.
For those in a super rush, we can run you along the route in a single day if you want to really push yourself, although you may like to check out Tour de Trails' www.surfcoasttrailmarathon.com event, if that timing suits (June), or a fun taster in the form of the 21km / 12km Afterglow Twilight-Night Trail Run event, with its fun and fluro vibe in November www.afterglowtrail.com.au.
As one of our shortest tours, and also being located in our back yard (TdT is based in Anglesea), we do not have set date departures for this tour, rather we encourage you to drop us a line and we'll make it work for your personal timeline. There are no minimum numbers for this tour - we design an itinerary around what you what, using the Surf Coast Walk and running its length as our anchorpoint. Otherwise, we curate an experience to your liking and budget.
JUST DOWN THE COAST: experience our very special TATSE OF TRAIL: LORNE runs, set in the waterfall wonderland that is the hinterland of Lorne, the Noosa of the South! Check it out here.
A superb week-long line up of achievable road and trail runs, a few cocktails, the odd massage, lots of sunshine, an island exploration by bike, another cocktail or three perhaps, and lots of lagoons...this is running in paradise!
You'll join in the fun that is a week of official running events on Rarotonga, including the famous Round Raro run (32km - road, flat), the Nutters' Cross Island Trail Run (9km - trail, definitely not flat), and some Hash Harrier runs (they're a friendly cross dressing mob).
PLUS tour-exclusive guided trail runs exploring the tropical hinterland (including a recce of the Nutters' Run), an adrenaline pumping trek to the island's highest peak, and plenty good food, accommodation and like-minded company.
Pub to pub, pint to pint... eventually it will get you from Coast to Coast!
This one runs from quaint English pub to quainter English pub, supping a pint and noshing on a Yorkshire pud at the end of each awesome day. The tour takes in a 300km ale and trail odyssey that follows in the footsteps of the famous guidebook writer and walker, Alfred Wainwright, to traverse across the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.
